A+E Global Media is exploring the work of the cops who uncover online exploitation and bring perpetrators to justice before they harm children in Predator Hunters.

The show is the first U.S. cable series for Louis Theroux’s production company Mindhouse, which is producing with Pantheon-backed Soho Studios.

Predator Hunters follows Tony Godwin and his team in the North Texas-based Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Partnering with the FBI, Homeland Security and the U.S. Secret Service, Godwin opens his case file for the first time to follow three investigations from the first digital clue through undercover online conversations and coordinated law enforcement operations. With  never-before-seen chat logs, raw bodycam footage and in-depth police interviews, the series reveals how predators operate and the relentless work required to stop them.

Godwin is well known in the space, having assisted law enforcement nationwide leading to the removal of hundreds of criminals from the streets.

Arron Fellows, who runs Mindhouse with Theroux, Nancy Strang and Sophie Ardern, told us he hopes the indie’s first cable show “can run and run, and play in different territories.”

“It’s something we haven’t done before but feels very within our wheelhouse,” said Fellows. “We’d love to do more Predator Hunters. It’s our first foray into high volume, returnable series.”

Fellows, Theroux and Strang talked Deadline through Mindhouse’s slate earlier this week, including a feature doc on the manosphere for Netflix, fronted by Theroux. Soho Studios, meanwhile, is currently working on Murder Map with Line of Duty star Vicky McClure and Jonny Owen for Sky History.

Soho Studios boss Ian Lamarra, whose indie is backed by Pantheon Media Group (formerly Asylum Entertainment), said “getting direct business from American buyers is always a target for me.” “This series showcases our constant ambition to bring projects packaged with A-list names or super exclusive access to networks,” he added. “Being trusted by Detective Tony and his team to represent their vital work was an honor and we are proud that he loves the series. We hope this series will run and run as the viewers see just how important and intricate the work of these incredible police departments is for America’s children.”

Lamarra and Fellows are exec producing Predator Hunters. Dr. Graham Hill also serves as executive producer with Stuart Rose as showrunner. Brad Abramson and Elaine Frontain Bryant serve as executive producers for A&E.
