As the host of HGTV’s Zillow Gone Wild, actor and comedian Jack McBrayer gets to travel all over the country and explore some of the coolest (and wackiest!) homes on the market. In fact, for the upcoming third season of the hit show, McBrayer got to tour a whopping 41 wild homes.

But for McBrayer, who is also known for playing Kenneth on 30 Rock, getting to go on those exciting adventures is not what it’s all about — his favorite part is actually something much sweeter.

Parade recently spoke with McBrayer ahead of Season 3 of Zillow Gone Wild, which premieres on HGTV on Friday, May 1, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. Read on to learn more about McBrayer’s favorite part of filming Zillow Gone Wild, to hear about which “wild” house he’d actually live in and for some details on the crossover episode he filmed alongside David Bromstad.

Jack McBrayer’s Favorite Part of Shooting Zillow Gone Wild Is Connecting With the Homeowners

“My favorite part is just hanging out with the homeowners,” McBrayer tells Parade over Zoom. On each episode of Zillow Gone Wild, McBrayer meets up with a few different property owners from across the U.S., and they take the comedian on tours of their wild homes.

“Even when the cameras aren’t rolling, I’m just able to talk to them and hear their story. I like to feel that they are comfortable enough and at ease,” he says. “My favorite part is just the social chit chatting when the cameras aren’t even rolling, like we’re sitting at lunch from whatever local establishment we’re able to get our Cobb salads from.”

The Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor adds that he and the crew like to make it clear to the homeowners that the production is “here to celebrate and explore and be curious with you, and to showcase and highlight you. This is all complimentary — not like at a hotel, like complimentary towel service, but we are complimenting you.”

Jack McBrayer Reveals His Favorite House From Zillow Gone Wild Season 3

“There was one house in Yucca Valley, California that had just this incredible pool,” McBrayer says, when asked about his favorite house from Season 3. “It was on this bluff with this incredible viewpoint. I’m just like, ‘Oh, I could see myself here.'”

However, he definitely can’t see himself in some of the wilder homes he toured this season.

“What I love is that [each] homeowner has such love and passion for their space,” he says. “[But] after 41 houses, you see a lot of wild design choices, and some are for me, and some I politely smile and say, ‘Thank you for your time.'”

Jack McBrayer Dishes on Filming Zillow Gone Wild With David Bromstad

Another favorite Season 3 moment for McBrayer was working with David Bromstad from My Lottery Dream Home. The two HGTV hosts teamed up to shoot a crossover episode, which will air as the Zillow Gone Wild season finale. In the episode, McBrayer and Bromstad will explore a home inspired by international spies in Reunion, Fla.

“That day was Webster’s definition of chaos,” McBrayer says with a laugh, about the day he filmed with Bromstad in Florida. “He is so funny. We just spent the whole day giggling, even when the cameras weren’t rolling.”

He adds: “Any opportunity to work with David Bromstad, I’m gonna say yes. He’s just a hoot.”
