Investigation Discovery will delve into the case of disgraced former mommy vlogger Ruby Franke and rogue therapist Jodi Hildebrandt in a new four-part documentary series, Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence, which will air on the cable network over two nights on September 1 and 2.
The series will chart the twisted relationship between the two women, who had both risen to positions of power and influence within the Mormon community — Franke through her “8 Passengers” YouTube channel spotlighting her deceptively wholesome family life, Hildebrandt through her life coaching business ConneXions — before they joined forces on a ConneXions-branded social media venture in 2022. However, the women’s mini-empire came crashing down in 2023 when they were arrested and on charges of aggravated child abuse against four of Franke’s children, which they were ultimately convicted of in early 2024.
Featuring extensive interviews with former clients of ConneXions, as well as Hildebrandt’s niece Jessi, the series explores the manipulative and allegedly “cult-like” tactics that the women enacted through their business — which ultimately led one former client to launch a lawsuit accusing Franke and Hildebrandt of running a racketeering enterprise that encouraged physical and psychological abuse of children.
Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence is produced for Investigation Discovery by Pantheon Media Group, Velvet Hammer Media and Chick Entertainment.
